The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) for Osceola County, Inc. will soon have a new home. The new CAC facility will be constructed adjacent to the Osceola County Council on Aging’s newly constructed Barney E. Veal Center’s 42,000 sq. ft. special needs shelter and headquarters. On the same grounds, the CAC will construct a four-story structure to provide an ideal environment for all the services a family may need during an investigation of child abuse with a focus on being sensitive to the victim’s dignity and privacy. The new CAC will be designed and decorated for children with separate waiting areas for younger children and for adolescents. The expansion of the CAC will allow for the co-location of law enforcement, the Department of Children and Families, physicians, interviewers, therapists and advocates. The state-of-the-art facility will feature examination rooms, interview rooms, a resource library, a chapel room, a café and therapy rooms. The partnership between the CAC and the Council on Aging will facilitate intergenerational programs and leverage existing resources. The CAC building should be completed and occupied early in 2009.
Here are some photos of our progress as of July 22, 2008:
